Even though you haven't had any dramatic weather in your area and your roof hasn't been damaged by things like heavy rains or hail, it still might be time to get a new roof. Maybe you had a roofer take a look to see if repairs could be made and he or she came back with the news that it is time for a new roof. Maybe part of you wished that there had been a serious storm so that you could file an insurance claim. Then you realized that that kind of thinking wasn't getting you anywhere, right?
If it's for sure that you need a new roof, have you already decided on what kind of a roof you'll select? If not, from choosing the type of roof to selecting the color for your new roof, here are some ideas that might help you.
Your Different Options
If you're on a tight budget, think of going with a shingle roof which will probably be cost-efficient. Shingle roofs certainly aren't indestructible, but they will last a long time, and they are pretty easy to repair.
Maybe you have decided to go with your dream roof: one created with tiles. If your heart is set on that, find out from the roofer if your house will be able to support the weight of a tile roof. While a tile roof is more than likely your most expensive choice, a tile roof will last for a long time and will withstand even heavy storms.
A middle-of-the-road choice cost-wise would be a metal roof. The great thing about metal roofs is that, besides being attractive, they will last a long time and they will withstand harsh weather, just as the tile roof will.
Your Color Options
Maybe you aren't aware that all of the above choices come in many different colors. For example, maybe your past shingle roof was brown or gray. Consider adding pizzaz to a shingle roof by selecting a color like terra cotta red. Doing so might even give the appearance of the tile roof you really wanted.
Metal roofs come in many different colors, too. However, the traditional gunmetal color is great because it will complement any type of material of which your house is constructed. Still, look at the different color choices and see if there's another one that steals your heart.
If you go with the tile roof, are you wanting to stick with tradition by selecting a red tile roof? Maybe you want to give your house a more contemporary feeling by selecting something like turquoise for your tile.
No matter which type of roof you select or which color you decided on, the time of your roof installation will probably be shorter than you expected. If the workers start later in the day, they may need to return the next day to finish the job. However, if the workers start early in the morning, don't be surprised if your new roof is totally installed by the end of the day.
